September 18, 2009 Michael Jackson - icon or psychopath?


Worldwide billions of people hung on their TV's and watched the memorial ceremony for the "King of Pop", as he has been titled worldwide as well. Only seven weeks thereafter he was buried, but it is not sure, if this will be his final resting place. Because Michael Jackson suffered from insomnia, his private doctor Conrad Murray had injected him Propofol for a period of six weeks - a narcotic, which actually is used before operations in hospitals only. Now, after headlines have become fewer, even Ziarulmeu puts him on its cover as well. Not due to adoration, but as a warning. Permanently living in a daze, MJ's life was hardly real. Is that what attracts his fans worldwide? Do we all want to refuse real live? Even weeks before his death MJ was described as a bad joke: child abuser and a dreamer whose attribute was to have his hand in front of his genitals while dancing. Do you even like pleasure grounds? MJ lived in "Neverland" - his pleasure ground. Do you even like monkeys? MJ's best friend actually was a real monkey. MJ is the dramatic example for somebody who can afford everything and who gets away with everything. He is an example for somebody who does not want to grow up, but whose greatest wish is to be a child forever. Billions worship him like an icon. Thank God, I do not belong to these. To me everybody - whoever - is suspect who attracts masses. MJ wanted to remain a child and somehow he did, a stunted, lonesome child. "Aging" was a horrible vision for him. We Christians know that aging is reality (please read my "Sunday Word" on page ... in this paper. "The colors of autumn") These colors are not from a world of glitter, these colors do not have anything to do with a crazy clown, these colors do not describe the autumn of life as a spectacle. MJ lived on his own planet, lived in a fairy tale, a life without control and limits, a life that made him addicted to little boys and to the idea that it is possible to form one's body like an icon by permanent operations. He was able to walk forward and backward at the same time and he knew dance moves which have been imitated by many people as well. MJ died in the year when Obama became president of the United States. Even he was celebrated like a new saviour in world history. MJ is not able anymore to prove anything, Obama already has taken the first courageous steps of his schedule and we may still expect some more from him.
